GTA Brews is excited to announce our third annual, nation-wide, homebrew competition for beer, mead, and cider; Brew Slam 2017 (#BrewSlam)! Last year saw 690 entries, from 9/10 provinces, judged by 52 judges, over just 3 days. This is an AHA/BJCP sanctioned competition, and also part of the Canadian Brewer of the Year circuit. The judging will take place at Amsterdam Brewery (Leaside) from Nov 10th to 12th. Judging will be performed by BJCP ranked judges and pro brewers, using the BJCP 2015 Guidelines.
We are excited to build on last year’s massive success and make Brew Slam 2017 even better! Our goal is to make this the premier homebrew competition in the country for both judges and entrants by providing the best experience possible. Toronto has the largest pool of BJCP judges in Canada which allows us to focus on the best quality judging and feedback possible. We are also excited to work with some fantastic sponsors for even better prizes than what we had last year!
Entries for Brew Slam will be accepted at the shipping and drop off locations beginning on October 10th, two weeks after the system will start accepting entry registrations on Sept 26th. The entry deadline for all entries to arrive at the shipping and drop off locations is end of business day on Saturday November 4th. Ship early to avoid delays.

Brew Slam has Pro-Ams, “Brewer for a Day”, and thousands of dollars in prizes up for grabs. If feedback alone isn’t enough to convince you to enter our competition, then our ridiculously big list of prizes should be!
Visit our Rules and Submission Instructions page!
Our rules and submission instructions are fairly standard and relaxed, but please make sure to give them a quick look. This page also has the addresses for our drop off and shipping locations.
Visit our BJCP Competition Guide!
First time entering a competition? Want a quick refresher/overview about how it works? This guide also explains why no beer is ever out of style when entered correctly, every beer you can brew has a home in the BJCP Guidelines.

We need as many volunteers as possible to make this competition a success. If you are reading this, and are able to be in Toronto Nov 5th, 10th, 11th, and/or 12th, we need your help. We need judges, stewards, and even bottle sorters.
We are planning a series of incremental rewards to thank our volunteers for their time, check out the volunteer page for more info.
Saturday Nov 18th (Evening) @ Henderson Brewing Company
Come celebrate the winners of the Brew Slam competition! Club members will brew beers especially to be served at this event, and guests will also be able to share their own homebrew with other attendees.
Medals and prizes will be presented to Brew Slam winners. There will also be exclusive door prizes for attendees provided by our sponsors.
